Seaside Escapes in Norfolk: Hemsby Beach Holiday Park & Bermuda Holiday Park Reviewed

Just recently, a group of my friends were booked on to an event up on the Norfolk coast. Why Norfolk? I didn't stop to wonder, but I did know I was a little busy to be heading there myself.

Until something happened. It's irrelevant what it was, but I made a last-minute decision to get booked on. Although there was no accommodation available, I was too late.

Scouting around on Booking.com I found accommodation close by and I was promised I could get to the venue on seperate day tickets! What a win.

Then, as I arrived, I realised this place puts the good old British seaside town on the map, and it needed to be filmed! The place was so cheap to stay in, and accommodated 5 people. Even better.

If you’re dreaming of a classic British beach holiday with sandy shores, arcades, and a laid-back atmosphere, Norfolk’s coast has some brilliant gems and two of them are nestled right in Hemsby. I recently visited Hemsby Beach Holiday Park and its neighbour, Bermuda Holiday Park, to explore what each has to offer for families, couples, or anyone seeking a nostalgic seaside escape.

Hemsby Beach Holiday Park
This park sits just a short stroll from the beach and offers a real sense of holiday tradition. Think: pastel-coloured chalets, a family-friendly club house, and plenty of activities for kids. The entertainment is lively, with shows and games running most evenings during peak season. The indoor pool is a great bonus for rainy days, and there’s a good mix of accommodation options for different budgets.

What stood out to me most was the location. You can walk from your door straight onto the sand dunes and down to Hemsby Beach itself, which is perfect for early morning beach walks or fish and chips at sunset.

Personally, I opted for some lovely Gluten free cake in the coffee shop en route to the beach. It was fabulous and the coffee was great too.

I enjoyed my solo trot that morning, although i was feeling slightly lonesome until later, when i met up with my friends.

Bermuda Holiday Park
Just around the corner, Bermuda Holiday Park of
fers a quieter, more relaxed vibe. It feels slightly more residential than Hemsby Beach Holiday Park, making it ideal if you're after a peaceful break with fewer crowds. The chalets are simple but clean, and there's a calm, community feel throughout.

It’s close enough to enjoy everything Hemsby has to offer — amusements, cafés, beach shops — while giving you a more tranquil base. This could be a great choice if you’re travelling without kids or want somewhere restful after a day out exploring Norfolk’s coast.

Which One Is Right for You?

  • Choose Hemsby Beach Holiday Park if you want on-site entertainment, a pool, and a classic holiday park experience right near the action.

  • Choose Bermuda Holiday Park if you prefer peace, a slower pace, and a more local feel while still being near the beach.

Things to Do Nearby
Both parks are well placed for exploring the Norfolk Broads, Great Yarmouth, or simply enjoying a beachside break with long walks, arcade fun, and ice cream by the sea.

Final Thoughts
Whichever park you choose, Hemsby has that unmistakable coastal charm. Both holiday parks offer a taste of simple, easygoing fun — the kind you remember from childhood, with a few modern touches. Whether you’re travelling as a family, couple, or solo adventurer, this stretch of Norfolk’s coast delivers the perfect UK staycation.

Soaking in the Magic of Southern Turkey: A Day Trip to Dalyan’s Turtle Beach, Mud Baths & More

They say the best days are the ones where you lose track of time. That’s exactly what happened to me on a day trip from Marmaris that started with a quiet promise of nature and ended with mud-splattered laughter and golden sand between my toes.

The Dalyan Turtle Beach Tour is one of those all-in-one experiences you simply can’t miss if you're visiting the Turquoise Coast. We set off early in the morning, the soft light dancing on the hills as the coach wound its way towards Köyceğiz Lake. You’ll want to bring your camera — the scenery alone makes the early start worth it.

Cruising Köyceğiz Lake

After a smooth drive, we arrived at Köyceğiz Lake and stepped aboard a traditional boat. Gliding across the tranquil waters, the chaos of Marmaris melted away. There’s something about being on a boat, surrounded by nothing but nature and the chatter of fellow travellers, that resets your soul.

The first stop? Sultaniye’s famous mud baths.

The Mud, the Myth, the Magic

At first, I hesitated. Wallowing in a thick, grey pool of sulphur-scented mud wasn’t exactly what I had in mind for a holiday glow-up. But once I was in, there was no turning back. It turns out, getting caked in mineral-rich mud and then letting it bake dry under the sun is strangely therapeutic — and wildly fun.

Everyone looked ridiculous, which somehow made it all better. Strangers became friends as we shared in the silliness. After rinsing off and soaking in the warm thermal pools, my skin felt unbelievably soft — and I couldn’t stop smiling. After I returned home, a friend mentioned how I looked like I had a facelift. I can't possibly attest to this but my skin definitely felt lovely.

River Cruise to Dalyan and Iztuzu (Turtle) Beach

From there, we cruised past the ancient Lycian Rock Tombs carved high into the cliffs above Dalyan — hauntingly beautiful reminders of a civilization long gone. Our guide brought the history to life with just the right mix of facts and humour, switching seamlessly between English, Turkish, and Russian.

Eventually, we reached Iztuzu Beach, also known as Turtle Beach — a stunning 4.5 km stretch of protected coastline where loggerhead sea turtles come to nest. It felt surreal to walk along the soft sand knowing I was sharing it with one of the ocean’s most endangered creatures.

Lunch was included: simple, fresh, and delicious, and we enjoyed it with the breeze coming off the water.

A Perfect Escape

This 10-hour journey was more than just a tour. It was a chance to slow down, connect with nature, and experience a completely different side of Turkey. Whether you're travelling solo, with family, or as a couple, this day trip ticks all the boxes: boat rides, history, beaches, natural beauty, and yes, plenty of mud.

Would I do it again? In a heartbeat. Next time, I’ll just remember to bring a change of clothes for the mud bath!

It was a super hot day. The memory hasn't faded about the semi frozen pomegranite juice we were able to buy on the boat (bring some small change)

Marmaris Bay Resort Hotel - what is it really like?

A lush peninsula in Turkey is the home to the stunning Marmaris Bay hotel (formerly Tui Blue Marmaris).

It's no secret they had their share of difficulties last year. But I am freshly back from there after speaking extensively to the new management who are stepping right into the front line, and taking people's wants and needs seriously.  This hotel is incredible.

Yes, I have been many times, and there are dozens of videos edited on YouTube for you to see how it was. There have been many changes since then, but the heart and soul of the hotel remain.

I left no stone unturned as I looked at this stunning place. The cutlery was shining with no trace of a watermark, the sheets were freshly pressed, brand new robes hung decoratively on the back of the bathroom door, and let me tell you about the food: It was fabulous.

Hoping the hotel was as amazing as it was pre-lockdown, I promised you and myself that I would have no option but to be truly honest about my findings. But working in the world of F&B and nutrition for many years now, I can tell you, this is an excellent hotel.

Are you looking for somewhere to relax and be taken care of? This is the perfect place for you. The rooms are built on the side of the mountain, full of jungle (which means there are some steps, but you can get taken by a golf buggy), and they are built in small blocks. This means peace and quiet. My room was silent, except for the moments I sat on the balcony in my robe, when I heard the gentle rush of the waves.

One of my favourite places was the brand new coffee shop area. You serve yourself. You can choose a book, and sit on a comfy sofa underneath this stunning thatched roof.

I will post a selection of videos and blog posts here, which will give you the tiniest detail about various aspects of this hotel - like, making sure you take the water taxi over to the marina in Marmaris. It's a lovely little trip and the cost is only €15 (currently). You want to see what it looked like, and how it was? I will share those things with you.

My videos and blogs tend to work in series, as I edit and upload them. There's a chance you wanted to know something which will already be there, so do feel free to have a look around.

This video shows you everything I had to eat and drink while I was there. The menus were fabulous.

This is how I felt one day..

This is a small taste of what's to come - I know you'll love these updates and stories. Come back for more. Meanwhile, you are now able to book via this affiliate link for 2026.

See you next time - much love

A new travel story is flowing

I’ve been quietly working on something behind the scenes, and it’s finally time to share it with you.

Some of you know I’ve always been passionate about writing, and today, I’m introducing a new project under a (working) pen name, Fara Day. It will still be me writing it, I will still show my face, and it's not a secret from now on. But, and here is the thing, I want to keep the persona of this next project very seperate from my other writing, under 'Louise' because, wow it is so different. This doesn't aim to help your health or mindset like my other books, although it may just help your heart beat a little faster.

It’s a fictional modern day romance. It will be steamy, emotional, with a slow (ish) burn. I’ve always believed that dreams can come true, and this book is about that very idea.

The plot kicks off when a woman in her 40s, living in Bali, gets a surprise voice note from none other than Simon, the superstar singer she met years ago in Koh Samui. One thing leads to another, and she’s pulled into a whirlwind of creativity, connection, and perhaps… love?

I’m sharing this with you because, for the first time, I’m going all in on this writing dream. It’s a new chapter of my journey, and I want you to be a part of it. If you’ve ever loved a slow-burn romance or been fascinated by creative partnerships, this one’s for you.

Stay tuned for more updates, and I’d love to hear what you think when the first chapters are out!

Did I hear you asking 'why?'

I still have a long list of books TBW (to be written) and some are non-fiction, as usual. The last book I wrote, Look an Elephant in the Eye, had a very small piece of fiction within it and a couple of readers commented this is the part of the book which really brings my writing to life. And it got me thinking, let's make a spin off. I love playing with fiction anyhow and I definitely fancied writing something with a bit of spice.

Are you ready for this? I am so ready.

I would love you to share this post with someone who you know loves fiction, as I will be posting my updates as I go. I truly hope you will be as invested as I am excited.

What happens when a 46-year-old woman living in Bali gets a voice note from a superstar singer she met once in Koh Samui?

Until the next update, love always

Being a Travel Writer – What Does That Really Mean?

If you've landed here after the recent Facebook group saga or tuned in after hearing my radio interview: hello, it's so lovely to have you here.

I’m grateful you’ve taken a moment to stop by while I try to answer a very fair question:

What exactly is a travel writer?

The truth is, it can mean all sorts of things. Some travel writers create practical guides or maps. Others, like me, write blogs, essays, and books that capture what it feels like to be somewhere new.

Personally, I’m most drawn to storytelling. The kind that weaves together travel and real life. The kind that notices the barista’s tattoo or the way someone glances at their phone like it holds the answer to everything. I write about those tiny moments that reveal something bigger about the human experience. Philosophical chats about life? That’s my sweet spot. If you're someone who loves to people-watch, I’ll bet those kinds of stories speak to you too.

Maybe it’s no surprise that I’ve found my peace in writing. Somehow I've ended up running a travel business by accident. My books are rooted in experience, and luckily, I’ve had plenty of them. Enough to keep me writing for years. In fact, there are 19 more books on my list. Yes, it's a lot, but I don't mind at all because it's also my dream job. I'm so thankful for the chance to be grounded (just for now), so I can write more, share more, and spotlight some of my favourite places and hotels. It’s the perfect balance.

If you loved Eat Pray Love or Mamma Mia, I think you’ll really enjoy Look An Elephant in the Eye. These stories follow strong, independent women who are trying to find their way even when they feel a little lost.

And if you’d like a free copy, I’d love to send one your way. Head to Made In Kent Radio or message me on Instagram to enter the giveaway. I hope my words keep you company while you sip your coffee, soak up the sun, and watch the world go by.
