a day in the life - the nicest mothers day - despite Covid-19

The pandemic of Covid-19 saw Mothers day in the UK quickly become a very unusual affair.

Restaurants were closed, shops were closed too. Those children who were well organised had sorted cards and gifts; I wasn't a well-organised child. My mum was given a notelet card with a praying Buddha on it with words written inside.  I mean, it was the best I could do really considering I am unwell and couldn't really get to the shops.

But my children were very well organised and I was super impressed.

This Youtube video we created on the day before lockdown made me smile.

I woke to smiling faces and a choral, 'happy mothers day,' followed by the lovely smell of English breakfast being cooked downstairs.

The twins then suggested we take a trip to the coast, while social distancing (this was before the lockdown) but they weren't sure I was up to it (in the thick of pneumonia).  I decided I thought it would do me good. I love the beach; just love it. The sun was shining beautifully and although it was cold, I knew if we wrapped up it would be fresh, bracing, blow away the cobwebs and generally create a feeling of well being.

Make shift starbucks (they are all closed) and my son doing the driving

There is something about this beach which I love and I'm not really sure why. It was the beach we always went to as children and part of it fills me with horrific memories. My mum always used to brush the sand off my feet too roughly and it hurt.  There was a sink where we used to fill up our plastic beakers to drink from - I'm not sure if this is the same sink, it looks like it, but that would make it about 40 years old!

That sink.

Where we usually get our coffee

The wind was breathtaking and we felt cold.  We didn't stay that long but just enough to fuel my beach addiction.  Nathan suggested we head somewhere else.  I chose trees to walk in and we headed back home to our local special nook.

Oast houses in the distance

We got home and made drinks.  Then to my utter shock, there were cards, presents and flowers! Really impressed that the twins had gone to such extremes to make me feel like the best mother in the world.  Blessed indeed.

"Lou, what do you do?"

I totally understand it's a complex subject as to what exactly I do for work. I'm asked this over and over so I will try and explain why I simply answer with, "Well, it's a long answer but basically I'm a writer."

I write creative non-fiction mostly

I'm also a travel writer, reviewing all inclusive resorts for 'free from' foods.

But I'm also a scientist; a registered nutritionist with a specialism for chronic disease.
Since I could pick up a pencil, I loved to write.

As a child, letters to thankful Grandparents were written in abundance and compliments of my early writing were welcomed but ignored. Never had I realised the opportunity of pursuing ones dream of being a creative writer might be something life could offer in the form of a “JOB”, so I followed other pathways.
Science saw my love of helping others understand about chronic disease and lifestyle in the form of writing the ‘science’ stuff creatively and in laymens terms (This is something I still occasionally do) yet my postgrad saw encouragement from the incredible academics into writing more narrative non fiction in the form of life writing, writing for trauma and encouraging others to embrace their own stories through memoir.
Being told I have a talent for creative writing was mind blowing and a total dream come true and this has springboarded me into the happiest year of my life. My current work in progress is a narrative about the IVF journey and coeliac disease which of course includes the story of the struggle as a single parent. A happy ending must always follow my writing as we demonstrate strength, independence and self love for my female protagonist (either fiction or non fiction) as she is a lady who believes in chivalry and allows herself vulnerability without apology while remaining upright with valour.

My fiction created a rumble although it was never my intention to write - and I loved it!

Of course I still love science and nutrition. Who couldn’t? It’s more than interesting and I now know exactly what is going on in my body with my chronic illness and why I have it. So now, I’m trying (not easy) to take things a little less frantically in life and pursuing my dream of full time writing. This way, on bad days I can rest and good days I can churn out more words. I love writing Non-fiction in the form of my nutrition blog and reports but I also love romance novels! So....follow my writer journey into my next masters degree in Creative Writing :) My published books so far can be found here: https://amzn.to/2MPtAVX

Being a YouTuber

This trip has been more enlightening than I would have imagined.

Thinking I was bringing mum away on her last trip of her life (although I have said that before) to give her a nice time is about as far as I had thought.

Yet within just a few days of being on this beautiful peninsula, and here I was realising that there was an energy shift.  Just like I had back in Egypt in 2009.  Strange.  Unexplainable.
How does this happen?  I wasn't sure.

Julia started it! She and I were watching 'Strings at Sunset' and she spoke to her husband about me.
"I'm sure that's Louise who we watched on Youtube." And came over to ask me.  Yes it was me.  This was a little surreal.  She continued to tell me how she had found the videos helpful and watched several of them.  Wow.  I loved that.
As the week continued, other new friends came and introduced themselves as viewers too.  Often we would just pass each other and they would let me know how helpful my work has been to them.  Ha.  Work.  I love that.  Talk about the best job in the world.  So, yes it is hard work at times but such a blast.  Love it.  Knowing that it's not just out there in the ether is exciting. People are finding this helpful.  And I love making them.

So now I knew what I needed to do with my life.
Which is handy as being here and places like this are helping me to feel so much better in myself physically and mentally.

Going back home sees lots of editing needing to go on which I'm excited to upload. Especially now that this is helping people.  The future looks bright.

December Vlogmas day 10 - heartbreaks and toothaches

Nerve pain shoots through my ear and eye socket like a bolt of lightning.  "arghhh" I mumble as Jasmine asks what's wrong.
I know I will have to bite the bullet and get an emergency dentist appointment.  Not afraid of much.  Quite  tough cookie. Not when it comes to being reclined in the dentist chair about to face a needle, a drill and some dental work.

But this hurts

Other hurt fills my life this pre-christmas season this year as other life stuff bubbles to the surface after a long time waiting.  Personal life stuff I cannot get into but suffice to say the positivity of the law of attraction is testing me right now as I decide there are a few good things to always come from the bad stuff...
Which leads me nicely on to next year.  Usually I skip the resolutions as we fail to keep them.

Last year (well, it's still this year isn't it) I made none.  2018 will see me warm myself into jive again. I missed the me who dances.  Part of my dancing feet defines me.  Or rather my dancing feet define a part of me.  She has been MIA for oh so long.  She's coming back.

As long as I have been a student, I have wished to join the choir. I haven't managed it yet.  Promising myself I would at least get along to listen to the beautiful gospel of "Oh Happy Day" ring out through the beautiful painted chapel...sadly that night mum was unwell.

My time.  I must make some of my time.  Meanwhile, I will spend a few minutes looking over these videos and remembering Vlogmas days gone by...

When we put the decorations up in 2014 and I wore that orange jumper...

Then last year you can see me beginning to feel a little confused about my future...

Plus I got all dressed up and went to the Christmas ball this day 2 years ago! What a great night :)

Sending much love to you all, as always

Vlogmas day 9 from the past 3 years

Let's head back in time.

What was I doing 2 years ago? Graduating from my nutrition, health, physchology and chemistry diploma

Then last year, my lovely son decided to come on one of my videos at last.  He's not shy, just not keen to be involved in my vlogs where Jasmine is.  Of course I love them both so totally differently :)

Then, 3 years ago, just as today, we were scraping the ice off the cars as it was FREEZing....

This year? I'm mostly taking care of mum with  a little help from the blood pressure machines and stuff.
Hence, very few videos here to show here that are of new quality.  For which I apologise but this lack of excitement is a good thing as it means I get to look after mum.

Lots of love, always

Why I'm not doing #veda

Good morning from a sunny Kent.  Finally.  We have sun!

This year for the first time in a while I'm not doing VEDA.

What is VEDA?

Standing for Vlog Everyday in August, veda is when you tubers decide to vlog each day and publish. It's a fab way to connect with each other using the hashtag #veda

Last Month (July) I did a fair bit of vlogging and travelling.  Most of which still needs to be edited and uploaded.  But I will get there.  So there will be uploads from me but i need to get on top of all the other bits and bobs.  We will still be having some adventures and uploading them.  Off to Cornwall soon which is actually for business but i'm still excited! Then we have a Centre Parcs visit which is exciting more than exciting!

Watch my place on the internet over on youtube at http://www.youtube.com/louiseusher which will encourage me to get those edits done!

Our recent trip to Gran Canaria.

Can you help? I'm looking for a new vlog camera.  I can't decide if I should go for a DSLR, a camcorder or update my phone....?  What would you do?  Connect with me on twitter to let me know what you prefer.

What are you up to? Are you doing VEDA?  Leave your channel below as I love to see those!

Much love

Videos of Majorca travel

Do you love watching Youtube?  Have a little look at this:

I'm chuffed to say I'm off travel vlogging once more. Head on over and come have a look at my videos in Majorca https://youtu.be/Lr7zvPUYgIU

Already, since my last blog post, I feel I'm beginning to look better.  Sure am feeling better, heck I even got some sleep. Waking at daylight time twice now!  Resetting my circadian rhythms as I read "Wired to Eat", educating myself more in the past couple of days than the entire time in University.   Perhaps, that's just me realising what I want to learn and what I need to learn.

Meanwhile, I feel how much my heart sings while I write my blogs, take these photos and edit the videos for you all to see.  Easy to share the love there.  Easy to feel my heart led passions there...

Do me a favour? Head over to the Youtube channel above and help me with my passions.  Subscribe and watch, comment on here.  Show me your own blogs. Let's share the love between us to fill all our passions.

Much love as always

Do what fills you up - Motivational Monday

Like me, you probably spend oodles of time learning stuff to get you to 'the thing'.

Where do you draw the line and think "I'll just get on and do it."?

Now! That's where.  Draw the line NOW and start doing the thing.  You might be amazed.

Recently, I have loved the time I spent in my online 'business' (feels strange calling it work when it's my passion) and have been  more than blown away with the amazing comments.  Someone I hadn't known before messaged me saying they were looking forward to my new holiday or travel VLOG.  Incredible.  I wasn't sure people were out there waiting.    Filled my soul.

As the work has continued tentatively for many years while I still invest in courses for my own knowledge and development, I have decided this is the time to really go for it.  Imperfectly perfect.

Who's with me?

Much love

Visiting the Youtube space, London

Talking cameras.

Dslr then video cameras....that bit I could understand.  The rest, I was lost.  Yet I did enjoy visiting the Youtube Space.  What an honour.

As creators, we are encouraged to go along and film there while enjoying the snacks and drinks on offer.  On this day, we were listening to Philip Bloom, award winning cameraman.
Managing to get a ticket for Jasmine too was amazing as she is studying Creative Media at college.  She is loving it.

We had fun of course and for us to get there on the train was pretty straight forward.
We will definitely be going again.  To film inside there, we need 10,000 subscribers so if you haven't subbed to me yet please do that here.
Jasmine has her channel here.

Enjoy these shots and see our video too!

Much love

Taking a trip to SITC

For the very first time, I am at the Excel in London for the 8th SITC.

Although I have visited the Excel many times for hair and beauty shows, this is my first visit to the SITC.

So what is it?
SITC stands for Summer in the City.  It's a convention/meet up for you tubers all across the world.  Just now, before grabbing my coffee (thanks, Costa) I have met up with the lovely Stephen from Eastbourne (you've likely seen him on my vlogs), James from Washington DC and Sonia from Ireland.  All online friends who I occasionally get to spend time with which is really special.

So what's the point in it all?  Can I learn anything here to help me create a better YouTube channel?  Maybe, I hope so.  Yet above all else I am beginning to do more things like this to inspire me.  To live the dream through the law of attraction.  Surrounding yourself with others of like mindedness is the way forward to create the life you love.

Negative self talk and other doubters often stop us in our tracks and make us wonder if we are good enough/can we do this/should we do this and the list goes on with the chatter in our minds.

For me, knowing how the law of attraction works, limiting beliefs are the enemy.
Doubt
Mistrust
Lack of allowing...

Goodbye to you all!

I feel I have something to offer the world in my wisdom.  Some may call it age!  I call it wisdom.  Ha ha.
Surely I must have learnt something from this tricky life I have led up until now.  Is this something I can share with the world and pass on to help others?  I believe I can.

And...we all know everything starts with a thought,  then with belief in tow we can start to make these manifestations reality.

So what is your thing?  What is the thing you want to do?
Do you feel there is something you would like to do for a way forward to help others too?
What is stopping you?  Does it feel a little conceited?  Because remember, only you live your life.  Only you are the one who has the unique gifts to offer that are bespoke to you.

For me, the thing is passing on my life lessons to others.  Through writing and sharing some Vlogs in the meantime.

Tell me, will you at least give it some thought?  Everything starts with a thought.....

Much love

Louise xoxo

#veda - the difference between last year and this year

Do you know what #veda is?

It stands for Vlog Everyday in August.

Last years videos were interesting as I took a camping trip and had lots of fun.  Although still confident, I was a little unsure where my online life might take me and at the time it still felt very much 'the dream'.

This August though, I am focused and determined with more 'guts' than ever before.

Knowing how my body is taking  a toll on the physical lifestyle I have led for so many years, there is a must element about making a career out of this blog and my Youtube channel.

Every single one of you who have subscribed, read a post and bought a book are totally in my heart.  Please leave a comment to let me know you are out there.  I'd love to say hi.  I get so many lovely comments over on my Youtube channel.  I love them all.

They make me smile :)

Enjoy last years #veda playlist here and I look forward to sharing my August with you all again in 2016.

With much love and gratitude

800 subscribers! Thank you all so much.

This feels more than surreal writing this.

My Youtube channel has hit 800 subscribers.  This is totally mind blowing stuff and I appreciate all of you so much.

If you didn't check out the craziness that is my Youtube channel you can do by clicking the link here.

What will you find over there?  I obviously incorporate the law of attraction into life there but I also just vlog my life, chat in the car, show you my travels and add in a bit about dealing with my invisible illnesses too.

Wishing you a perfect Monday and much love

Even more clarity than ever before - how to get it!

Hello Everyone

Let's get really deep and nitty gritty.  Are you ok with that?  Stay with me, this is important.  Now sometimes when I write on subjects like this I feel it is being channelled from somewhere bigger than me.  Which means that on occasions, it can be deeper than my mind would usually work.  So stay with me, ok?

This is important.

Yesterday,  for the biggest time ever I felt total clarity.  I want to share with you how and when it may happen for you.

So many spiritual gurus go through a journey which is sometimes tricky to make sense of.  I will tell you why.

Spirit is housed inside this human body right?  You know that.  We are here as spirit having a human experience.  Now I believe this with every part of me.  Since I lost my Dad I have more than believed it, I have Known it with a capital K.
Ego is the part that we think with.  This confuses us.  Certainly confuses me anyhow!

Within my heart (and yours) we have a knowing of what life we would love.  It's a gut feeling.  Something inside.  Right?  Tell me you have felt this.  Then we shake our head in disbelief and tell ourselves, "No."  Why do we do that?  Because our dream life is almost too good to imagine.

Literally, as I write this email, this "Note from the universe" popped through:

It takes a BIG person, Louise, to accept full responsibility for their own happiness.

It takes an even bigger person to accept full responsibility for their own unhappiness.

But, Louise, it takes a spiritual giant who, upon realizing any degree of unhappiness, decides to be the change they seek, in spite of having to endure the "same old, same old" that may still linger on for awhile.

Yeah.

Fee-Fi-Foe-Fum,
    The Universe

What about that?  Exactly what I'm talking about here.  Maybe those words resonated with you and you are there nodding along in agreement.

For absolute years now I have been studying how to get clarity in life.  How are we supposed to know what our job should be here on this earth?

Reading over and over about going back to childhood.
What did you enjoy doing as a child?
What would you do if money didn't matter?  (That is likely what you were doing as a child if you had no bills to worry about)
What is the thing that really makes your heart sing?
What could you do all day long without getting bored?

The list goes on....

Writing time and again on this blog of how writing was always my childhood thing (did you see the blog post about how I rewrote Grease?) and how I didn't tire of writing sweet letters to my Grandparents.  I would quietly sit in my tiny bedroom at home listening to a mono record player and burning an oil lamp.  Still now, music and candles are very much a part of me.  Without these things I simply don't feel complete.
My beautiful friend Stacey and my big hearted other half Scott listen to me over and over repeating the same things again and again on how much I want to write.

So write I do.  Yes, in full 'living my dreams' and 'living on purpose' I sit and write.  All the while, that ego is tapping away inside my head saying, "What will people learn from you?  What do you know?  What can you share?  What can you write about that will be a job? What knowledge do you have to share?"
The answers are usually something uber practical.  Something people can actually get a hold of and do something with.  Like cooking.  For example...
Yet I really would love to write about love.  Life.  Dreams.  Wishes. Hearts desires. Life. Did I mention life?

Spending time yesterday with the twins at Thorpe Park, I was sitting writing the day away while looking at my stats.  Not only could I not access my nutrition website, but I began to notice that all the things I am doing with passion, are the biggest audience already!

Hang on, lets say that again.  I already have the audience.

Really?!! So, I have been over thinking this massively.  You guys who read this blog, and those who watch my Youtube channel are my biggest audience.  So, why?

Not only have I been 'rambling' for years on both those outlets, but I have been fairly consistent (I could be more consistent) and I have created with passion.  So how come I hadn't realised before that this could absolutely be my future?

Bad backs and anxiety have me kind of wanting to do this more than ever and knowing that I absolutely and definitely could has filled me with total joy.

So within this blog and website I will share more with you on how you can gain clarity and live your life on purpose but I will bet my bile duct (a quote from Cocktail, the movie) you already know what it is.  Your ego is getting in the way of you listening properly!

I wish you much love and clarity

Christmas week - watch this video of what I've been doing!

How are your Christmas plans and preparations going?

Are you excited?

We are so excited in this house. Christmas eve I am going to have a major cooking session in the kitchen.  I do love to cook.  However,  these days life dictates that we just simply 'throw something in the oven.'  I shall be making a gluten free, vegetarian lasagne with homemade potato salad and coleslaw.  YUM.
My nutrition channel is starting to really take off over on youtube.  I've gained more followers this week than ever before so the only way is up!

I feel 2016 will see a wonderful year for me of making dreams come true and getting life really going in the direction I want to go.  This year hasn't been bad at all but it has been  period of healing for me and massively doing some inner work.  See this post about anxiety here.

With more and more blog sponsorships coming through, I am beginning to realise the dream that my passion can actually become my job too.  Awesome!

This week just gone I have Vlogged my activities and ramblings.  We have seen some amazing things. It is my dream to clock up 500 subscribers on my VLog channel so please please come over and subscribe.  keep up with all my news this way!

Of course I hope to pop back in before the big day but time goes crazy doesn't it! If I don't send you good wishes nearer the day please accept my virtual love through the screen and have the most wonderful Christmas.

Love as always

Vlogmas 2015 in London

You guys know me well enough by now to know that I'm always uber busy!

Who isn't?  We all are these days, especially at this time of year.  University excitement, exams, busy hairdressing days and of course Christmas shopping/wrapping up.  Not to forget I'm taxi to wonderful teenage twins.  I love it all.

Although occasionally, I do wish I had 'elastic time'.  You know, able to make it stretch further to get more done.  Like blogging for example.  I love blogging and I always have so much to say!!! I'll get there I know.  In fact I already feel there is a massive improvement in my time management going on.

So I would like to share with you this blog post with my latest vlogmas video.  I have more to edit which I shall do the minute I have posted this blog post up for you all to see.

Meeting Tyler Oakley and Stephen H Vlog

Good morning everyone!

How's life treating you all?  How was your halloween?  Gosh, I feel like there is so much to catch up on between you and I.  Honestly,  things have been manic here as always and as you know by now, checking in with my blog is just the best - I love it.  My place of retreat and love. <3

My theory about firework night is this: in Kent, we seem to get a turn in the weather right after the 5th of November and typically when we see our first frost.  I'm hoping it holds out for a few more days.  I've yet another exciting weekend coming up and you don't want to miss this one! I will of course be vlogging it but also taking some photos to share with you.  If you haven't already,  sign up on the right hand side of the page to get my blogs sent straight to your inbox.  It's a great way to keep up with all your favourite blogs.

Meanwhile, I am procrastinating - I really must get back to some Uni work! I'm getting behind on projects which is super crazy.  So early in the year too! This is going to be quite a ride.

Much love
