Ever felt overwhelmed?

Indulge me in a little self pity?

For I’m sure this is somewhere we have all been at sometime.  Overwhelm!

Wow – I’m sure feeling that my feet are back on solid ground, in the rainy UK, with more work than I know what to do with.  So please, sit with me and picture the scene.  Coffee shop; (pretty cold here) with my nice soya latte and a gluten free cake (yum!). Plenty of note paper, a nice pen and my glasses.  My diary (one is not enough so I consider buying another to use as my day diary for personal stuff and anything non uni related.  Yes, there is lots to do and frustratingly my fingernails are beautifully long (looking wonderful after the wedding but way too long to type at my usual speed) as I sit and ponder about life, the future and how I can figure all these things out.

The Law of Attraction has a lot to answer for.  Not only did it have me confused for ages and ages (knowing that life is supposed to be joyous after being raised with comments to the contrary) yet I felt inclined to write list upon list of how to figure out what I should be doing.  You may have seen the several blog posts I wrote suggesting how you can figure out what you should be doing.

Take me back?

So, then I cracked it. I should be working online. Yay.  Love that idea.  One for a challenge, I decided to take things one stage further and get myself more knowledge and qualifications.  Then the tricky bit began.  The real work started.  Whoever said ‘students have a cracking time lording it up in the pub’ had things very misunderstood.   University is HARD work.  While I love a challenge and I definitely love hard work,  this is frustrating at times.  Not always clear on what is expected of me or how I am supposed to be learning, I often wonder what the flip I’m doing.  On top of this, I know within my heart, soul and gut that I need to start growing my online practice as soon as possible.  Yet time is of the essence as I see to writing the next lab report or doing another piece of research.

Can I be honest with you here?  My health has suffered.  I don’t find the time to get to the gym anymore.  Eating right is a luxury (and I know better than that) and I find myself an unwell victim of society.  Rushing around, without proper nutrition and exercise.  So while I’m hoping to help others at the end of all this, I seem to be doing myself more harm than others.

Should I quit?  Throw in the towel?  Heck, no.  Not without a darn good crack at the whip.  Maybe I need to accept that for the next 18 months life will be more than a challenge, maybe we will need to get take-aways or microwave dinners and I will for sure need to keep taking my anxiety medication (which goes against everything I believe in).  At the end of all this, I not only get a gown and mortar board photo but I gain credibility.  As a nutritional scientist who uses evidence based approaches to help my clients.  Hoping to bring an end to some people’s health issues along the way.

Will it all be worth it?  Today it’s hard to believe. Yet I’m sure it will all be worth it!

First day back at university

As a second year human nutrition student I'm feeling excited.

Waking at 5am has become no stranger to me just lately.  You may have seen from my Youtube channel I am tweaking my health right now.  Since that, I can wake early and feel refreshed.  Although I still get tired later on, I decided to embrace the day and get up.  Letting you guys into the secret of how I am feeling!

Yes I am definitely excited to be getting back into the lecture theatre.
Today we study cardiology which will help me fantastically in keeping an eye on Scott as he continues to recover from Myocarditis.

Our lecturer is amazing.  She's beautiful to watch as she presents,  funny and engaging.  I adore lessons with her and others who are like her.  Doesn't a teacher make all the difference! Crazy eh.

Of course, I won't be forgetting you guys and this blog, quite the opposite in fact.  I aim to use the library as a hideaway where I can work until I'm done then I go home.  Only then! I always overfill my to do list but I want to achieve all the things I want to achieve.  Telling you guys my stories and sharing any knowledge I feel you might like to know!

Recently, I have published a new blog which is ideally for those wanting to find out about studying nutrition and dietetics yet this is a year behind.  For example, a year today will see a post about starting year 2 (which is actually today!).  If you are interested in learning the science of what I get up to, head over there by clicking here.http://nutritionstudentdiary.blogspot.co.uk
If it's nutrition you want to hear about rather than the science of what I'm learning then there is a better blog for you here.

On top of all that, you can sign up to get posts in your inbox on the right hand side of this page and I will be sending a monthly newsletter now which you can sign up to here for FREE :) Yay we all love free stuff.

I'd love to hear your comments.  What are you up to at this time of year?  Are you looking forward to Halloween?  Who dresses up?  What about the leaves changing colour this autumn?  Gorgeous!

Have an awesome day you awesome lot

Love always

Louise xoxo

Warning! Sad video about health, Crohns and liver issues.

Please be warned this is a pretty low video.  Not very positive but it's all leading somewhere as I talk about Crohns disease, raised blood sugars and liver issues.

As I got this news about my health I was shocked and hence I stopped to think about making the video there and then.

I KNOW I can turn my health around with lifestyle changes and I WILL.  I would love your support!

This is what makes me want to be a nutritionist.  To help others as I know what it feels like!

Slimming world weigh in results | week 1

Oh Gosh!!!

Now this was a fantastic start.  I wasn't expecting this.

I lost 7lbs! In my first week.  I had been really, really, really strict.  I loved this feeling.  I am feeling happier, healthier and just generally great!

Do I like slimming world?

The plan, yes, I find it is very encouraging of a healthier lifestyle.  More so than Weight watchers. Although I must say, there is still more talk than I would like about what food you can buy in Iceland.  Maybe that's simply the nutritionist in me!

Although in the group all we seem to do is go round and round discussing everyones weight gains or losses.  I would rather get tips for sticking to the plan and a little more motivation.

The group is super friendly which is amazing and super awesome! I'm also impressed with the consultant who leads it up too.

Make sure you follow this blog (in the box on the right hand side) or you can come over and like my Facebook page http://www.facebook.com/louiseushercoach to follow my progress.  Let me tell you, week two is one blog post you will not want to miss!

Much love

I lost my Dad

For those of you who don't follow my Youtube channel, I have some devastating news.

My brave and gentlemanly father has passed away.

Not only are we in shock as a family but I'm finding things pretty hard to keep going.  As usual, I am finding gratitude in 'things' but this event and massive loss has really shaken things up.

Dad and I are so close.  Often understanding each other with just a look when Mum says something funny.
OR an amazing song with air guitar breaks needed.

I was always a Daddys girl.
Monday lunchtimes home from school were the best.  Depending on Dads shift pattern he would cook me mashed potato, meat left over from Sunday lunch and thick steamy gravy.  I never wanted to go back to school on those monday afternoons.

Miserable school.
It was Dad who sat me on his lap when I cried and said I wanted to leave school.  It was Dad who taught me to stand up for myself and fight for whats right and wrong.

Dad was my dancing partner when we started to learn Ballroom and Latin when I was a young teenager.

Dad was also the man who usually led the Macarena.

So how do I begin to chose the song for the soloist at his funeral?

How do I put one foot in front of the other and carry on with study, work, life and cleaning the darn floor?

How do I do anything without curling up and crying?

How can this be a normal part of life?  Something that so many go through.  Grief.  Losing people.  IT hurts so much.

Little by little, I will be kind to myself.  Helping Mum to sort life out.  Life without her husband.  54 years of marriage.  Gosh.  Do they still make marriages like that?

Unsure if I should make a video or not, I decided to go ahead.  My subscribers are growing daily and I'm eternally thankful for the dream that pretty soon I will be able to work from home on my business and stop worrying so much if I have a day or two where I feel unwell.

Thank you all for being here.  You mean so much to me.

Why you need vitamin D at this time of year

Yesterday we saw the shortest day of the year here in the north.  Some celebrate the solstice.
Some chase around for last minute Christmas gifts.

All the while, your dear body is taking care of everything just the best it can.  Renewing cells,  fighting off infections and viruses and protecting you constantly.

What our bodies cannot do is the impossible.

During the months of October and March we simply do not have enough sunshine to help us out properly.

Sunshine?

Yes,  we need vitamin D in our bodies and the best way to get this is from the sun.  This might well not be a surprise to you.  You may know this already.  In the summer months we can get a little sunshine each day and naturally make the vitamin D we need.  So what do we do in the winter?

Often, the best way to ensure you don't suffer from a deficiency is to take a Vitamin D supplement*.  You know me, I do like all molecules going into the body to be the best they can be and I have found this little gem which is free from all the stuff I personally need to avoid.

After trying out this product and speaking to my friends at Epsilon life they have given me lots of information about their wonderful product.  If you click below you can see the reviews on Amazon which are pretty impressive I must say.

As readers of my blog, you can enter LUSHERLIFE at the checkout for an extra cheeky discount code! Spread the word.

So what would taking Vitamin D supplements mean for you?

If you suffer from any of the following, it may be worth visiting your GP to get your vitamin D levels checked.  You might just need a simple supplement which is such a minimal investment in terms of finance and it could make the world of difference.

Fatigue and tiredness.
Muscle cramps and spasms.
Depression.
Erectile disfunction.
Osteoporosis.
Light headedness.
General aches and pains.

Yes the body is a miracle.  Every time I revisit information on the cell and biochemistry, I am blown away.  While nothing is a substitute for a well balanced diet and doing things 'au natural' we occasionally need some help.

Speaking with Epsilon they gave me this extra information:
  • Epsilon.Life gives a portion of every sale to a Multiple Sclerosis charity
  • We are the highest and best reviewed vitamin products on Amazon.co.uk Our vitamin D has a five star rating and close to 600 reviews.
  • We are a small family run business and provide outstanding customer service to all of our customers
  • All of our products are manufactured and sold exclusively in the UK
  • We focus on selling only a small number of products, that way we can make sure that all of our products are of the best quality
  • Any orders over £15 (with or without a discount) qualifies for free shipping

As I had mentioned, we are happy to offer all of your readers a voucher code giving them £5 off any order. They can use this code on our checkout page to get £5 off any order: LUSHERLIFE

New year is just around the corner (my birthday too!). I know we all like to make health a priority and if you order today, you will be ready to go on January 1st when you feel fresh and new and ready to make a difference to your health and your life.

Of course, I will be here to hold your hand every step of the way!

Wishing you the very best in health

Louise xoxo

My graduation from London Met University in Nutrition

Finally a dream came true.

I got to wear my gown and mortarboard.  While I'm still waiting for the official photos from the photographer, I thought I would share a little of the news here with you.

Have you ever graduated?  You will know what a special day it really is.  Feeling very regal and a definite sense of occasion.  The room at the Barbican Centre, London was truly buzzing with both anticipation and excitement.  My classmate sat next to me was really nervous.  Yet all I could feel was pride.

When  I was first offered a place at London met, I remember talking to my year 9 children about Chemistry.  Advising them that I had never learnt chemistry at school.  They gasped in disbelief as I told them this.  Mentioning the periodic table,  I questioned, "What is a periodic table."
More gasps.  "Mum you can't do a science degree if you don't know what the periodic table is!"

True.  They were right.  This was not going to be plain sailing.

Leaving my first chemistry class almost in tears as the enthusiastic genius Dr who taught us was speaking Spainish to me.  It felt this way.  Thankfully, London Met were so supportive and there were many 'drop in sessions' and lots of additional ways to learn.  I went to every single one!

My final award came through after tears and frustration and I got my Diploma in Health, Psychology, Biology and Chemistry with an overall A.  Proud as punch!

As you can imagine, to graduate among such shining stars and people who really get out there and make a difference to the world was truly an honour.  I was proud to sign up to this University Alumni Association.  I wanted to keep connected.  I was proud to be London Met.
This year, I continue my route into degree with the BSc (hons) in Human Nutrition.  Yes, more science. Much more! I have moved universities to Greenwich University much closer to home as the journey was such a challenge. I was so sad to leave my friends behind and a university who had shown me such amazing experiences.
"Maybe you'll come back and teach for us in the future!" The admissions manager suggested.  Well, stranger things have happened.

The future is exciting.  As my children are growing ever more independent, I am thrilled that my career path looks set to kick off once again.  Watch this space!
As I learn more and more I share over on my Nutrition blog for those who would like to see health improve.  It truly is a dream to get out and help people to eat better and take care of themselves holistically.

Much love,

Louise xoxo

I've decided to get on and order some more.  The Berry Nectar is my favourite.  I love it!

You wanted to make life changes - remember?

It's been a crazy amount of time now since I began to learn the Law of Attraction.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B009STQ7BU/ref=rdr_kindle_ext_tmb

Being the inspiration to begin this blog, I have so much to thank 'it' for.

However, I need to make a video all about the 'problem' with the law of attraction.  When things go wrong and why.  What you can do when things don't pan out as you had hoped.

Having recently got way too complacent with the Law of Attraction, I now have had a few proverbial 'kicks up the bum' to remind me of the practices I should be making! It's definitely time I started to practice what I preach once again and I have revisited many old favourites of mine.
Videos.
books.
Meditations...
The list goes on.  If you haven't read my book yet, I suggest you get your hands on a copy.  You see, I have recently started promoting the book again and it's flying off the shelves like a new release! Honestly, for £0.99 you can begin to get the knowledge you need to start changing your life.

If you want to regain health
Get a better body
Find the love of your life
Change jobs
Make more money
Have more energy
You have good news ahead...there is a way you can start to make changes in the way you think and act and make huge differences to living the life of your dreams.

I know you are crying out to know more from me and the best way is to head over to amazon and download a copy of my book.  It doesn't matter if you don't have a kindle as it can be sent to your tablet, laptop or phone.  It will be the best £0.99 you have spent in ages.  The book is small, just 33 pages so can be read in a couple of hours.  So many of my audience have asked if I am releasing a second book.  I will.  I guess.  Yet right now I have 3 books I am writing plus a short story for publication and I must get those in print first!  Yet follow this blog and you will get nuggets from me each week!

So click this link and goto Amazon to get your own copy.  You can get it in print too if you prefer something you can make highlights,  notes and dog ears with! You are likely to come back to the print edition again and again.

Meanwhile, I wish you the very best in life for this wonderful day and send you much love

A new chapter begins - All registered at University

Are you off to University in the next couple of weeks?

How do you feel?

Are you a 1st year fresher?

Where are you off to?

Yesterday saw the beginning of a new chapter for me too.  I completed my registration to my new university.  In case you didn't see my story so far:
Last year I was in London for my first year at uni.  I loved this place.  Didn't mind the travel either.  Although it played it's part with taking a bit of my health.  Being a "Spoonie" with Crohns, I need to give that lots of respect.... So I have now transferred to a lovely university close to home!

Open day after open day, I have gone along to do my research.  Reaching a place where research was all done,  there was still something I was unsure about. Knowing I would be missing my friends from London,   the comfort of knowing where the rooms were,  how the hygiene worked in the super lab,  enjoying my time on the train... I needed to feel 100% about making the move.

Little by little,  the universe (not university, the universe) has showed me nuggets of painful twinges here and there and so many reasons to make the switch.  Plus,  at my new local uni they are so super friendly and sweet.  They have already told me they would like to get me onboard with mentoring and training the others which is what I adore doing.  Feeling 'looked after' there is just priceless.

So,  look out Science and biochemistry,  I'm coming for you.

Nutrition at its best,  I am excited to extend my knowledge through evidence based science and research and share with you my findings online here.  I have a dream to help as many people as possible to get well through changing diet and lifestyle.  This has been a huge learning curve for me as I have learned to live with my diagnosis.

I would love you to head over to my nutrition blog and follow me there as I share this specific information.  You owe it to your body (ohh; cheesy!)
Plus I will be sharing more and more health and cooking stuff on my Youtube channel too!

In the next couple of weeks I am considering sharing with you my vulnerable reasons for doing what I'm doing and my dreams for the future and where I would like to be.  What do you think?  Would you like to see this?  Are you still reading this far in - as I would love you to leave me a comment.  This blog gets hundreds of views per day (which is mind blowing) yet I often don't know what you are all thinking.  This is my invitation to you for you to let me know.  Get in touch,  leave a comment or tweet me.  I would love your support with my journey.

A new chapter begins.

Much love

Louise xoxo
