Helen's weight loss journey.

Over the past few months, I have made a wonderful new friend called Helen.  She is a blogger, like me, and we are enjoying our time on our collab channel Global Stars.

After reading my book and chatting lots, Helen decided to make some life changes and had an incredible weight loss. She has given me credit for helping her but of course it all comes from within.  Helen is the one who had to make the changes!  She did it with total conviction and really took the bull by the horns.

Read her story below as I interviewed her.  Also find her in the links below:

What inspired you to start on your weight loss journey?

Mainly my health, I knew being overweight was not good for me but also I was sick of feeling uncomfortable in my clothes and never feeling like I looked 'nice'. Every night out or event was a constant battle to find something to wear that I felt comfortable in and every time I saw photographs of myself afterwards I cringed, yet I was doing nothing about it and just having another bar of chocolate!

How did you begin and when?

I started straight after Christmas! And I decided that I had to cut all chocolate, sweets, crisps, fizzy sugary drinks and takeaways out of my life. Get myself to 3 balanced meals a day, more water and see what happened!

How much weight have you actually lost in total?

31 pounds! So just over two stone. I'm now the ideal weight for my height!

What is the best way to describe what made you want to lose weight?

It was a mixture of health and confidence issues, I just knew enough was enough and I had to change, I wasn't happy or healthy at all! Speaking to Louise who was doing her nutrition degree made me realise just how much what I was eating was effecting not only the way I looked but also my inner well being and mood too.

Do you think it is easy to lose the weight?

In all honesty, it was easier than I thought it would be! I thought it would be impossible and I'd really struggle but I didn't! Once the first bit of weight came off I was motivated to continue and see how much I could shift!

How do you feel physically now that you've slimmed down?

I feel great! I feel really confident in my clothes, I feel great out walking because there's less weight to carry around, I am really glad I did it!

What have you done differently since losing the weight?

I think about what I eat now instead of just eating, I think about how much something will fill me up and the nutritional values of it rather than weather it's quick & convenient like I did before. I plan more and have a general awareness now of what I'm eating and when instead of just eating because I feel like it.

If you were about to have a snack or treat you 'shouldn't have had' how did you stop yourself?

Basically I just thought 'no don't ruin it now' or 'thin people don't eat that' and that was enough to make me step back and not eat it.

Now that you are slimmer how do you think life will change for you?

I think my health will benefit a lot as will my self esteem but also I feel younger, more energetic and better than I have in years!

What advice would you give to others who are trying to lose weight but struggling?

I'd say that if you REALLY want to do it you'll find a way! Don't expect it to be easy but it's honestly not as hard as you think it will be either! It's just a case of not eating something that you know is bad for you, and eating something that is good for you instead! It will all be worthwhile when you slip into your skinny jeans and your tummy is flat believe me!

Any words of encouragement?

I'd say to set yourself manageable goals! go in half a stone stages! Also don't let others derail you by encouraging you to have a McDonald's or a takeaway, be strong and say No! It's called junk food for a reason! You end up looking like junk and feeling like junk if you eat it! And by simply not eating it you can become a slimmer, happier, healthier, more confident you (which lasts a lot longer than the taste of a cheeseburger!)

You look fantastic Helen! Well done and congratulations!!!

3 steps on keeping positive

Getting the information you need to learn the Law of Attraction takes a whole lot of time.  I have been at it for some years now and still often get blown away with new ideas.  So, how do you learn what you need?  How, also, do you use it to keep positive when your day is not going so well as you would like?

There are so many tips and tricks that I will keep it simple on here and just share with you a few exercises that you can use to bring you right back into the state of mind that will allow you to push through the negativity.

* Breathe.  Use your lungs to full capacity.  Fill them deeply with air using your nose.  Then slowly release with an open mouth and try to calmly say 'AHH'.  This gives a vibration through your chest and seems to instantly 're set' things.

* If you are in the middle of a meeting, exam or such a place surrounded by people (who may find your 'ahhhh' a little weird) try this:
Look around you and begin to name things you see.
"There is a red fire extinguisher"
"I see a clock on the wall telling me it's 2.10pm"
"The table in front of me has four legs."
"This chair is very comfortable."
And so on.  You get the idea?  Ok, so what's the point in all this?
Maybe you've heard of living in the now?  There is a suggestion that if you live in the past you can get depressed, if you live in the future, you can get anxious, yet in the now: It is what it is.  This is how it is right this second.  Picturing all the things around you will help you get back into the moment and live it for what it is.  When you come back 'to it' you will be feeling so much better, it's almost like magic.
Try it.  Let me know in the comments how you get on.

* Getting back into the 'Vortex'.  This is a phrase used by Abraham Hicks.  It's suggesting that the vortex is a wonderful place where you feel your heart sing and your spirit lifting.  Try and remember a few moments where you have felt like this.  It's a far cry from depression and anxiety. Right?
Ok, so if you've had a bad day, you need to focus on getting back in the Vortex. A way to do this is to focus on something that makes your heart sing.  For me,  it's listening to music.  Maybe loudly in the car.  Singing perhaps.  So what is your 'thing'?  Going to the gym,  working out?  Stepping into the Jaccuzi?  Putting on make up, doing your hair, taking selfies and putting them on instagram?  (Share them in the comments?)

Of course, if you want to learn more about the Law of Attraction you can download my book for 77p on the right hand side or you could search in Youtube for Law of Attraction.

I'd love to know this has helped you.  Leave a comment or email me.  Keep in touch!  Have a happy, positive day

Much love

Louise xoxo

Ever wondered why you can't lose weight?

Ever wondered why you can't lose weight?

So folks, are you one of the people who really takes your weight seriously? Maybe you are someone who has lots to lose or maybe you just want to drop a few pounds to get rid of the muffin tops from your best skinny jeans. Either way, it can be very frustrating when you feel 'stuck', you feel as if nothing is working. Let me help you to relax about that issue ; there is an answer. Always.
I was in the exact same position a few years ago and I followed several plans to the letter and not only did I not drop any weight but sometimes I would gain it or even worse, get really unwell. I didn't know at the time I had an underlying health issue. Now that I do, I feel the frustration of so many of my private clients who come to me at their wits end.

Honestly. I can honestly empathise with these clients. They are in tears often. Feeling like maybe they 'deserve' this weight and 'deserve' to look this way. Now, I am a believer that often you can hang onto self sabotage and that keeps the weight on. It's called the Law of Attraction. In other words you can do things to keep the weight on you by the power of the mind.

Something you never heard of? Are you just sitting shaking your head thinking I've gone totally ga-ga?

Ok, let me explain. Have you ever heard of the placebo effect? A placebo can be a sugar pill given to a group of people who are all suffering with the same thing. It contains no medicine, just a sugar pill. Now, there will be another group who have the same medical condition but they are given a drug to treat it.
After x amount of time, they get the patients together to see who responded better to the pills and very often, it doesn't make much difference if the pill was made of sugar or if it contained medicine. In other words, if the patient 'thinks' he may be taking a drug to treat his condition then the thought alone can help make him better. Imagine that? That we are all bringing about our life by what we are thinking. It would be like your life is a movie and you are the director. Well, actually there are many people, myself included who do believe in this. In fact, I know it!

A client came to me really distraught. She had lost weight before and even got to a fantastic weight. Not only had her health improved but her outlook on life had changed massively. It was supposed to be a good thing. But as her mind changed, so did her marriage and her husband had an affair. My client was distraught. Her marriage was over and despite looking fantastic, her husband chose to leave her for the other woman.
Through comfort eating, the lovely lady started to gain some weight again. She got quite curvy. Joining the local gym, she worked out really hard there. Nothing much was happening and she kept her curves.

In the steam room one day she got chatting to another curvy guy. They hit it off instantly and he built her confidence telling her how beautiful she was just the way she was. After a short time of dating, they married. She was a blooming bride on her wedding day and looked radiant. Although this wasn't good enough for my client as she knew she could be more beautiful. She wanted to be slim again for her new husband.
Can you guess how this story ends? She lost the weight again. After a short time of her new lovely figure, her husband left her. No real reason, he just wasn't as happy as before. It certainly had nothing to do with her weight.

So she gained it again. She felt safe when she had her curves. People liked her with curves, yet when she got slim, they left her. Until she could shift that belief, she was always going to hang onto this weight like a comfort blanket.

Almost like asking a child not to carry around the comfort blanket anymore (as you don't need it), I had to re-educate her that she was lovely and would be loved no matter what size she was. Her weight was nothing to do with her two marriages ending. Once she realised that she could look into the mirror and like what she saw, curves and all, things began to change.

The way I worked on this client is a way that can work for many clients too. It's all about starting from where you are and appreciating what you have and losing the fear that things will change.
A blog will follow soon to teach you how to start where you are and appreciate what you have. Please follow this blog for updates. Feel free to post me your questions below.
