Sunday morning perfection

Time to write, to drink coffee, to dog walk.

Rising early as the sun streams through the 6am window, Harley and I decided to get up and out while it's cool for his paws.

Round the block as we used to call it.  Then Starbucks calls.  The best latte I've had since I visited turkey.  More about Turkey in a week or so.  LOTS more.  Lots to tell.

Meanwhile I will aim to get back on track with my writing word count for Nanowrimo. I'm very behind! But determined. As this is absolutely what I love to do! (Want to follow my writer journey where I share purely the juicy stuff? It's the only place you'll find it! Click this).

What fills you with joy on these Sundays?

Why don't starbucks do gluten free?

What is good and what is bad about Starbucks?

Firstly, this is good and bad for me.  Of course.  My opinion.  Not anyone else will find the same things and of course it will also depend on where you visit.  You see as I sit and write here, this shop is pretty empty and quiet and I love that there are loads of other people on their laptops too!  Many students I expect as we have my campus which shares the campus with 2 other universities too.

I also love the coffee. Except for the one time they ran out of soya and I had to have it with coconut milk which is most unpleasant.

Just one thing….where are the gluten free muffins?  In fact, where are the gluten free anything?  Jeez even the smoked almonds contain gluten on the dusting on the outside.   Why no gluten free products?  There are dried fruit and nut bags which frankly don’t hit the spot!

When will you be catering for celiacs like me Starbucks?  You do everything else so well!

Costa v Starbucks

I never was a fan of Starbucks.  Has this changed?

Read on...

On a TV show they showed a poll of who would possibly be a fan of costa, starbucks and cafe nero.  No shocks there.  I was in the Costa bracket, Scott in the cafe nero and my teenage twins in Starbucks!

Don't get me wrong, Costa still do the best Hot chocolates with REAL cream....but there is an unwelcome feeling for those laptop warriors like me.  Yet here I sit, happy to blog in my local Starbucks which is clean, quiet and in plenty supply of electric plug sockets!

So what about the coffee?  Does that really matter?  To me, it all tastes quite similar so long as the strength is the same.  Costa sometimes serve a little warm milk with a dash of the brown stuff in it these days.  Perhaps I just got used to starbucks stronger flavour (2 shots as standard I feel) as they serve this in our university coffee shop.  Thank goodness.  Helps with the Zzzzzz's.

More often than not, for most of us it isn't always about the coffee or whatever your tipple is.  The experience ranks so super highly with our reasoning for our return business.
Back in the day when I was training as a hospitality manager, we were advised that most of the venues I was managing would be frequented by couples.  Yet it would be the female of the party who decided on this place.  Hence, if the ladies toilets were not as nice as pie,  then you had blown it as a manager!

Well done both Costa and Starbucks.  I love both.  Life without the coffee shops is, for me, quite a dark place!!!

Much love

Louise xoxo
