Why don't starbucks do gluten free?

What is good and what is bad about Starbucks?

Firstly, this is good and bad for me.  Of course.  My opinion.  Not anyone else will find the same things and of course it will also depend on where you visit.  You see as I sit and write here, this shop is pretty empty and quiet and I love that there are loads of other people on their laptops too!  Many students I expect as we have my campus which shares the campus with 2 other universities too.

I also love the coffee. Except for the one time they ran out of soya and I had to have it with coconut milk which is most unpleasant.

Just one thing….where are the gluten free muffins?  In fact, where are the gluten free anything?  Jeez even the smoked almonds contain gluten on the dusting on the outside.   Why no gluten free products?  There are dried fruit and nut bags which frankly don’t hit the spot!

When will you be catering for celiacs like me Starbucks?  You do everything else so well!

Clean 9 detox day 9 and final weigh in

March 31st

Day 9

Tomorrow morning I weigh to see what I’m at.

Starting off in the mornings, this is what I need to keep it like for like.  I’ll measure then too.  Exciting!

Will I fit into the bikini?  How will that be?  How will I look in my final ‘after’ picture?

Tempted really not to eat.  But I know that’s not the way it works!

Lisa text me bless her, overly excited.

SO LOU WHATS THE FINAL WEIGH IN?

Got to love her support! She’s been great.  I felt so ready to get on and do this.  Today, I have felt a little overwhelmed.  So super busy and just a little too much to get done.  Food was pretty low down on the list.  When I finally got to eat it was gone 9pm and I just had a salmon steak and some spinach.  I added some butter in the mix as a treat as it was such a small meal.

Looking in the mirror, I look noticeably smaller! I’m chuffed to bits and I could keep on going with this plan to be honest!

There is a follow up plan which I may do after I return from holidays.  It’s pretty similar really.  Meanwhile it’s time to get my beauty sleep and get ready for the final weigh in tomorrow morning!

Wednesday April 1st

Final Weigh in!

11.8 1/2

7lb off!!!!!!

8” off!!

Words cannot explain how elated I feel today.

Ok, ok, so people lose more than me at times.  Men can lose about a stone, I hear.  Although there wasn’t masses to lose for me and I already eat fairly healthily.  So I am definitely not going to complain about losing half a stone!  Wow.  In just a few days.

It was easy really.  I needed to keep a focus but yes, it was pretty easy.

So, I have decided that within my area of expertise as a nutritionist, I want to help pass this knowledge on.

My biggest thing I have noticed is I have amazingly clear skin.  Looking hydrated too!  I have caught up on sleep which was availing me through over thinking things and stress too.  Of course all of this puts a stress on the adrenal glands.  I’m never sure with  programmes like this if it is what is going in the body and a lack of eating junk that makes the difference.  I’m pretty sure it is.  Of course there is no substitute for  a healthy, balanced diet and to eat organically will definitely be of help to many.

Feeling totally motivated, I really want to help others on their own path to losing weight and getting fitter and healthier.  I know this is a strength of mine and I really want to spread the word to the masses! “You can do this!!!” I want to scream out.

My journey is definitely not over and I want to remain focused as I wear that bikini next week! Upon my return I will start again with the next programme.

What would I change? I feel I should have eaten more at meal times. My calories were a little too low and I felt sleepy after eating.  Next time I will be filling up more on vegetables too.  Organic of course.

My confidence has gone up so much now. I’ve stopped making sure my jumper is pulled right down and all that stuff.  I can remember how I felt when I was just 9stone 3…….perhaps I would still be there if someone didn’t crush my confidence by telling me I should lose weight.  Lesson to myself there:  Be happy and stay happy whatever others say.

Righto,  I’m off to the beach, in my non-small bikini to enjoy myself, sip a Piña Colada or two and dream of the future.  Feeling fit, full, healthy and happy.  I wish you the very best of health and I would love you to keep in touch through all the ways you can!

As always, much love

Slimming world weigh in results | week 1

Oh Gosh!!!

Now this was a fantastic start.  I wasn't expecting this.

I lost 7lbs! In my first week.  I had been really, really, really strict.  I loved this feeling.  I am feeling happier, healthier and just generally great!

Do I like slimming world?

The plan, yes, I find it is very encouraging of a healthier lifestyle.  More so than Weight watchers. Although I must say, there is still more talk than I would like about what food you can buy in Iceland.  Maybe that's simply the nutritionist in me!

Although in the group all we seem to do is go round and round discussing everyones weight gains or losses.  I would rather get tips for sticking to the plan and a little more motivation.

The group is super friendly which is amazing and super awesome! I'm also impressed with the consultant who leads it up too.

Make sure you follow this blog (in the box on the right hand side) or you can come over and like my Facebook page http://www.facebook.com/louiseushercoach to follow my progress.  Let me tell you, week two is one blog post you will not want to miss!

Much love

Louise xoxo

I joined slimming world!

Yes you heard it right.  This nutritionist joined slimming world.

Why?  Well, I've let things slip.  Stopped paying attention, we all do that from time to time.  My bikinis don't fit the way I would like them to.
There's nothing quite like being held accountable and getting a reward when you hit a certain goal.  Even a little sticker to say well done!  Crazy and childish?  Yes, but it works!

Listening to the other members in the group will help me to help my own clients with their struggles too.

Today, I feel a new me is born.  I'm determined to get off 22lbs by the time I go on holiday next in July. I know I can do that! It's 2 lb a week.  Do-able.  I know HOW to do it.  I am super sure I can keep a focus and even with my scientifically-proven slow metabolism, I will do this!

My own weight loss group online has a competition running if this is something you feel you might like to look into.  10 free places for you and a friend to join for a whole month.  Motivation, tips, tricks and meeting other like minded people! See this link here to enter and for more details.  You can also tag me on twitter  if you aren't a Facebook person!

So, it's the start of a whole new me.  Are you with me?

I was advised not to goto the gym.  I haven't been in so long but this makes my aches worse and also affects my mental health.  So I have decided to start very gently, taking my twins along with me to get over the anxiety I feel.  Brilliant!
Plus, joining another weight loss group.  Plus, I will be doing another Aloe cleanse from tomorrow.  See my details of that here.  I hope to get a really good kick start to my weight loss on my clean 9.  Last time I lost 10 lbs.  In 9 days.  Awesome.

I'm going to work hard at uni, work hard on my anxieties, drink less coffee...all those things we promise ourself and seldom do.

My motivation?  To look like this again in time for the beach!....

With much love from the new me....Louise xoxo

Autoimmune diet and me - my podcast!

Hey everyone!!!

I'm thrilled to bits to announce my new news!

iTunes have accepted my podcast request and you can now subscribe to my podcast over there! I'm chuffed to say the least.  I was thinking it would be so so complicated and as you know by now, I've lots of fingers in many pies already!

Life is busy already.

Although you will come to learn over the next few weeks on the podcast, that life has *got* to change for me.  It's a must!

So what is my podcast all about?

I have opted to not just chit chat (although there will be plenty of that in the beginning of the podcasts!) but the second part of the podcasts I'm going to niche right down to talk about making health better through using the right nutrition.
For myself,  you might well know by now that I have Crohns disease (among other things!) and this is one of many autoimmune diseases.

Just recently, I had a turning point, an AHA moment, if you will, and this has lead me to this place.

You may know I'm currently taking a degree in Human Nutrition and I love all things like that.  Perhaps I can help someone you know too.  So I will be starting to chat about this a little over on my Youtube channel too as well as all the usual Vlogs.

This coming week, I will be putting up another show where you can see me opening up and speaking honestly about what made me decide to get back to the special autoimmune diet.  Also how I'm feeling now.

You will make my day if you come over for a listen and perhaps share. The great thing about podcasts is you can download them to listen offline,  just the same way as you would the latest album release (although the podcast is FREE).  You can listen in the car, in the gym etc so head over to the link below and find me on iTunes.  Let me know you've subscribed too.  I'd love to hear from you if you are a listener but definitely if you are also an autoimmune illness sufferer.

Meanwhile, wishing you much love

Anxiety, Low mood and Depression

Hey everyone

How does your mood feel today?

It's honestly not unusual to feel low and more and more people are finding they are happy to share their experiences with others.  Look on Youtube, you will see so many 'sufferers' talking about their feelings and thoughts and sharing what has worked for them and what hasn't.

While I'm currently researching the hypothesis that all depression does in fact start with gut issues, (check back to this blog for details on this!) there is still a very real feeling out there where often you can feel alone.

However, there is so much more to life's worries than just those listed above.  Relationships,  work,  weight,  friendships.  Often it's good to share stories so you can begin to get over these things, lay it to rest and move forward.  To harbour it does you no good whatsoever!

This is the point where I share this website with you http://iamstrugglingwith.com .
Go check it out and you will find an awesome place to support you and leave you feeling it's not just you after all!

Leave me a comment below to let me know what has worked for you when trying to move forward and be more upbeat and positive.  We all have such different regimes that work for us!

Wishing you the very best of days and lots of love as always

Louise

Clean 9 detox - Day 8

April 30th

Day 8

Already day 8.

I’m starting to not want clean 9 to end.  I’m nervous for it to end.  I don’t want to go back to my old ways.

Already, I feel so much smaller and lighter.  2 more full days.

No hunger at all this morning.  It looked like I might run out of shake powder, so I thought I would skip a shake.  Obviously though, some clever folks up at the head office of Forever would have made sure that everything was accurately measured out. I headed off to work having had my Aloe and supplements. I have ordered some more garcinia from Lisa to take away on holiday with me.  That will help.  I really want to get going on the hiking and press ups and the healthy food that the mediteranian brings.

Dropping the children at school, I shot a quick Youtube video and went on my way to work.  My client always offers a brashly brewed coffee. I haven’t seen her for 6 weeks and so she doesn’t know I’ve given up coffee, let alone doing Clean 9.  Instead, she made me delicious, refreshing peppermint tea.  Yum.

Off to the hospital after my lunchtime shake to do a good deed.  The staff all were wishing the day away, hoping to finish soon. This makes me sad.  Fancy feeling like that in a job.  Thing is though, I’m still so passionate about helping people into health through nutrition.  This will never leave me I’m so sure.  It’s sad that people are still suffering with chrons and colitis and having pieces removed from them when really, if they changed their diets they may feel so much better.

My passion is to help others. To advise and nurture.  And this will never leave me.  Maybe now, I have also found an almost magic formula which I truly believe will help the masses. I can see this becoming a staple in everyone’s fridge in the next few years.  Being honest,  there is nothing better than a healthy, balanced diet.  Boy, do I enjoy my healthy evening meal.  Although I feel we all need a little help from time to time.  We certainly need someone to help us and to lean on.  I want that person to be me!

I’ve been asked today to speak again at my University. This time it’s an industry conference for Sports Science professionals.  What an amazing opportunity! As I am a keen speaker, I have been watching presentations on Youtube from Forever Living success stories.  There are truly some wonderful stories on there!

Looking forward to tonights meal.  Salmon steak, pan fried with olive oil fry light, a bed of spinach, or maybe, yes definitely, a load of salad actually.
Raw spinach,
Lettuce,
Cucumber,
Tomato and the smallest slice of mozzarella.

Yum!

Clean 9 detox - day 7

April 29th

Day 7

Upon waking, I didn’t feel the need to eat much.  I felt amazingly light and empty.  With a quiet stomach which was very unusual for me! Couldn’t quite believe it really.  What was this Aloe doing for me?

The lack of sugar and unhealthy, unnatural foods was also responsible of course, yet the idea that on Clean 9 I was loosing so much weight was really quite the ultimate motivator.

Let’s face it, who wants to lose 1/2 a lb per week?  I don’t.  Then again, I don’t want to keep making a massive sacrifice week on week which may seem like a negative way to look at things. To me, making a bigger sacrifice quickly and then just being more careful is a far better way to go.  I’m such a firm believer in the 80/20 rule.

What is the 80/20 rule?

80% of the time you eat healthy, fresh food which you know will benefit your body.  20% of the time you eat food which you know will be seen as  a ‘treat’. This is where your coffee and cake or alcoholic drink comes in.  That’s a great way to live.  Sometimes of course, we all need a little help.  Supplements should ideally not be relied on but we do find we have depleted soil for our vegetables to grow in. You generally know if your body needs help or not.  Don’t you?

I know when I don’t feel right, that’s for sure.

Yet just now, I’m feeling (and looking) so much better and brighter.

For me, I have had a bit of an overwhelming surge of a need to sleep.  I think this is because I have slowed down into the Easter break.  Not going into London gives me the chance to calm my brain down from it’s whirring all the time.  Not only did we change the clocks ready for the summertime, but I was shattered by 8.45pm.  I had to goto bed.

The past few weeks I have been waking at 4am.  This means I have been functioning on about 5 hours sleep.   I knew it would catch up with me.  I thought it would be when I was on holiday.  Didn’t think it would be so soon.  I had an amazingly comfortable sleep for an entire 9 hours! Couldn’t quite believe it when I awoke.

Come back for more tomorrow!

Much love

Louise xoxo
