I had a birthday (at the Sky Garden)

So, I had a birthday and wow did we have some fun! 

The fam and I took the train into London to experience the Sky Garden “Darwins Brasserie” which was appropriately named for this biology fan

The sky was foggy.  I tried to manifest clear skies, I pretty much succeeded.  
The food was delicious, but the meals came slowly, we didn’t mind as there was so much to see as well as having a good family time chatting and catching up,  


New years eve.  London got busier during our time eating brunch and a buzz filled the air. 

The train was packed as we stood shoulder to shoulder with a neighbour on the way home. 

Relaxing, we prepared to ring in 2020 as we sat on the sofa and the twins showered me with gifts. Blessed. Fun in the pub followed alongside a much more humble sense of occasion that still delivered beautifully. Karaoke was a head-shaking, facepalming event which saw me join in with a Jackie Wilson uplifting crowd-pleaser.  We all had such fun as we danced and sang our way into New year.

Why I'm not doing #Vlogmas this year

It's December already! Gosh.  Once again this seems impossible.  How did the time literally grow wings and fly so fast?

Something different in my world this December.  Ok, so lots the same, I will still have a birthday for example. Yet for the past 3 years I have participated in #vlogmas.  

What is VLogmas?

You VLOG each day in December in the lead up until Christmas. In other words, you get to be nosey in other peoples lives as they begin to prepare for Christmas.  Yes.  That's as simple as it is.  Although if you are a vlogmas participant you will 'have my back' when I say it's a lot of work! To create something beautiful and interesting takes a lot of time.

As a reader of my blog for a while, you are likely to know I have my hands full with my final year of university, looking after my mum, obviously seeing to the twins as always and general stuff around my own health and life.  Sensing vlogmas might be too much I have decided on another path instead:

I will be sharing my last 3 years Vlogmas over on my twitter page instead.  Each day, as if we are travelling back in time.  Gosh, 3 years ago I looked so much more well and healthy than I do right now! What happened?

London Concert at Christmas

Mentally writing blogs in my head is a luxury these days.

I missed you guys! How are you?  How are your Christmas plans?  There have been so many revelations in my life recently and it's all around this blog, this place I love.  Yes, I want to do more.
Since the template (face of the blog) has changed I love the new look.  I'm not sure all the features like your RSS feeds are working so well but I digress...

This has been a challenging few weeks at University with lots of work on.  You know, it's never quite so bad as you think it will be once you get going on these jobs you put off is it. Although it's not that I put things off, I just love working to the deadline.  Gives me a bit of a rush!  Last night I completed the last big one for this year.  Excited.

As you now, I lost Dad earlier this year and I have found it created a myriad of feelings that is so hard to put into words.
Surreal
Comforting
Heartbreaking

The list goes on.  Comforting because I have a strong sense of his peace.  Who wouldn't wish that for their loved ones?  Yet I know Christmas is going to be a challenge.  And I'm head of the house these days regarding my family.  I need to honour Dads memory,  remember him, still sing the silly songs we sang all while keeping the tears in check so Mum laughs with fondness and not a broken heart.  It's my job now to take care of her.  Of course, I love that.

Anyhow, we had a few tears, much laughter and a wonderful, amazing concert to get us in the Christmas mood.  The Royal Albert Hall was the host and the London Concert Orchestra were in residence accompanied by the AMAZING London Concert Choir.  I loved it.  So did Mum.

For the first time in I don't know how long, I felt like Christmas was going to be an exciting time! Mum enjoyed it too.

Prior to arriving at the concert, we spent time having a wonderful lunch, browsing Fortnum and Mason and watching the skaters in Somerset House. All so festive and beautiful.
The video of the day is below and I will forever watch this with a smile.  Love it.

Visiting the Youtube space, London

Talking cameras.

Dslr then video cameras....that bit I could understand.  The rest, I was lost.  Yet I did enjoy visiting the Youtube Space.  What an honour.

As creators, we are encouraged to go along and film there while enjoying the snacks and drinks on offer.  On this day, we were listening to Philip Bloom, award winning cameraman.
Managing to get a ticket for Jasmine too was amazing as she is studying Creative Media at college.  She is loving it.

We had fun of course and for us to get there on the train was pretty straight forward.

GCSE time in our house.  This means many things!

Recently, to my delight, Nathan told me he needed photos in London.

I love London.  I love Photography.  We took the tripod,  both DSLR cameras and set off on the train for the short journey into London.

Man it was so so cold.  We had to stop and shoot, then walk fast to get the blood pumping to warm us up.  Stand and shoot again.  Yet it was fun.  I had to remember this was Nathans project and I must let him see the things and how to adjust the camera to get that shot.

I love the fact that we are all now budding photographers these days.  Prior to having our phones as cameras, pictures were becoming a thing of the past.

Vlogmas 2015 in London

You guys know me well enough by now to know that I'm always uber busy!



Who isn't?  We all are these days, especially at this time of year.  University excitement, exams, busy hairdressing days and of course Christmas shopping/wrapping up.  Not to forget I'm taxi to wonderful teenage twins.  I love it all.

Although occasionally, I do wish I had 'elastic time'.  You know, able to make it stretch further to get more done.  Like blogging for example.  I love blogging and I always have so much to say!!! I'll get there I know.  In fact I already feel there is a massive improvement in my time management going on.

Life! Stop for a minute I want to get off!

Have you ever had those days when you are driving along and your mind races just a bit too much?

Recently, I decided after hearing another piece of sad news on the radio that I needed to take more time for fun.  More time for laughs and relaxation.
More time for friends.
Real people who will pull out all the stops for you no matter what.

A lightbulb appeared above my head and I thought, you know what, I'm going to throw a party!!!

I used to have regular house parties but life got in the way and things have been so hard.  I continued to drive along that day, unable to stop the thoughts of fun, music, cake and jolly times.  It made me happy.  I wanted to stop thinking about work just for a moment.  You see, I get very passionate about my work and throw myself in to the deep end.  That's just me, just how I roll.  Yet it can manifest itself into ways that hurt your physical self.

So I threw a party for Scott as he turned 45.  So many amazing friends arrived,  we danced to the sounds of The Rat Pack and ate gluten free chocolate cakes! Of course there were party poppers for the children to enjoy making piles of streamers out of.

Fun!  We had fun!

Laughter,  we had laughter.  It was amazing.

The meaning of life is JOY.  I needed to remind myself.

Meeting CloeCouture and almost meeting the Queen

What an amazing day we had!

Jasmine and her lovely friend Charlotte asked if I could take them up to London to meet a Youtuber they like called Cloe Couture.

We had the best day and honestly it turned out to be so much more than we ever imagined!

Pretty much, the photos will tell the story but as we got off our train at Victoria, we noticed the tube station we needed to get on was closed! So we queued for about 20 minutes to top up our oyster cards and find a bus.  Walking to the bus station, we were blown away by seeing a Fly By of the red arrows with Red, White and Blue smoke bellowing from behind!

I squealed in excitement and I was bowled over with joy to see this.  We began to wonder why so many people were walking in the other direction to us and I kept a close eye on the three young teenagers behind me.  Soon, I realised we were at the side of Buckingham Palace.   However, I couldn't have realised that Her Majesty, the royal family and even baby Prince George were addressing the crowd just feet away from us.

Turning the corner, I was delighted to be experiencing a feast for my eyes as the Grenadiere Guards proudly stood like something from a lego exhibition.

Following this amazing sight, the sounds from the brass bands, the God Save the Queen, followed by flowing tears from many of the audience, we watched in delight at the procession in front of us.  Sadly, a gentlemanly police officer informed us that the Queen was likely now, "Enjoying a cup of tea at Her Majesties leisure."

We had missed the address.

Sad.

However,  we looked at the time and realised we must pretty much RUN to Hyde Park to meet Cloe else our 5 hour trip would have been for nothing!

We got there, had an awesome time and Jasmine and Charlotte made a very brief video with Cloe.   Some little girl (maybe Cloe sister?) had gone into the Princess Diana fountain and got very wet and cold so the trip was cut short.  Bit sad really as quite a few of us were there.  Massive deal for us to get there.  Even so, it was so so worth it and really good to meet Cloe.

The teenagers and I found our way to the exclusive Kensington for a late lunch (oh-so-welcome) and found some more amazing views to take photographs of.
